Decorated with a delicate negative openwork creating a motif of a moon partially hidden behind clouds and a flight of wild geese. Unsigned. 18th century Edo period 1603–1868, Japan, tsuba, height 7.1 cm, width 6.9 cm, depth 0.35 cm, A round metal object with a weathered gray and brown surface showing a patina and some darker spots, featuring several cutout shapes including a central vertical elongated cutout flanked by an oval and a cloudlike form, a crescent-like cutout near the top with stepped interior edges, and a group of several small bird-shaped cutouts scattered on the left side; the background behind the cutouts appears a pale gray-green.
