Crossguard tsuba, Tetsugendô, / school, Japanese, Edo period 1603–1868, 18th century. Iron tsuba, round maru gata, flat with a polished surface migaki ji. Decorated with delicate negative openwork forming a motif of a moon partially hidden behind clouds and a flight of wild geese; unsigned. Function: sword crossguard for katana. Dimensions: height 7.1 cm, width 6.9 cm, depth 0.35 cm., A round metal object with a weathered, mottled surface showing shades of gray, brown, and hints of rusty orange, featuring a central elongated triangular opening flanked by two irregular oval openings and a cloud-shaped opening, plus a few small bird-shaped cutouts and linear scratches near the top, all set against a pale gray background.
