Platter, colored porcelain; Qing dynasty, Tongzhi period 1862–1874; China. Circular vessel, height 5.8 cm, diameter 24.5 cm. Decor: central mirror with the Taoist Taiji sign rendered as two stylized birds intertwined, surrounded by the Eight Immortals with their corresponding trigrams; outer rim decorated with Buddhist symbols., A shallow octagonal ceramic dish on a matching pedestal base, shown from the front on a reflective surface, with a pale celadon body and a gilt rim. The exterior features painted motifs in red, blue, turquoise, brown, and green, including a pair of stylized animal or fish figures with flowing turquoise lines, curving red decorative elements, and a linked knot-like design in blue and red. The pedestal has a band of green leaf-like patterns above a border of white and green wave motifs, and the interior rim shows a repeated geometric border in red with pale celadon on the dish floor.
