Vase, decorated with flowers and lions in satsuma ware; Japanese ceramics with cracklework decoration depicting peonies, chrysanthemums, and plum trees. Meiji period ca. 1870–1880. Vessel: height 26.5 cm; width 17.5 cm; diameter 16.5 cm., An off-white ceramic vase with a flared rim and a rounded body sits against a gray background; the vase features painted floral decorations in shades of red, pink, green, brown, and teal, with a large red flower and a pale pink flower amid green leaves and smaller blossoms, and delicate gold dotted accents scattered across the surface; there are sculpted handles on either side shaped like stylized animal heads in the same off-white with light brown shading, a decorative band with teal and brown motifs around the neck, and a patterned teal and brown border at the base, with the vase casting a faint reflection on the surface beneath it.
