Platter, pheasants and flowers, polychrome porcelain colored porcelain, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 18th–19th century, China; vessel; height 5.9 cm, diameter 35.3 cm., A round ceramic dish with a glossy white interior decorated with a painted natural scene; the decoration shows a group of green leafy branches and stems rising from a green ground area, with several red-orange flowers and a few bluish-green leaves, a multicolored flower with blue and yellow tones, and a pair of birds rendered in red, yellow, blue, and brown perched among the foliage and a pale green rock formation; the rim of the dish is plain white with a thin worn edge, and the background behind the dish is a smooth medium gray.
