Ding incense burner, Chinese, Qing 1644–1911, 19th century. Based on ceramics from the Xuande era 1426–1435 of the Ming dynasty. Ceramic vessel with dragon-shaped handles; decorations include lizards, dragons, and taotie motifs; backdated signatures. Height 13.1 cm; diameter 21.4 cm., A dark bronze vessel with a rounded body sits on a smooth reflective surface, supported by three short legs and flanked by sculpted handles resembling stylized animal heads; the body is decorated all around with raised swirling cloud-like patterns. The surface shows variations of dark brown and deep greenish-black patina with subtle areas of warmer brown and hints of reddish bronze; the handles have slightly darker tones and small highlights where the metal catches light. The background is a neutral pale gray, and the reflection of the vessel is visible beneath it.
