Crossguard tsuba, Tsunetada maker; decorated with an openwork positive motif of thirty-two concentrically arranged arrow shafts and feathers with fine engraved details; round tsuba maru gata with a rounded edge maru mimi. Inscription/association: Bushu Musashi. 19th century Edo period, 1603–1868. Japan, Kawagoe. Materials/typology: tsuba sword crossguard, weapons/swords katana. Dimensions: height 7.2 cm, width 7.0 cm, depth 0.3 cm., A round metallic object with a central elongated oval opening and two rounded openings on either side, featuring a decorative radiating pattern of narrow, feather-like segments around the inner perimeter; the metal shows a dark brown and gray patina with areas of lighter brown highlights and subtle reddish-brown tones, set against a neutral gray background.
