Crossguard tsuba, Tsunetada, craftsman; decorated with an openwork positive design of thirty-two concentrically arranged arrow shafts and feathers with fine engraved details; Bushu Musashi referenced one of the fifteen ancient Japanese provinces along the Tokaido route; today's Tokyo-fu, Saitama-ken and Kanagawa-ken. 19th century Edo period, 1603–1868, Japan; Kawagoe. Tsuba round maru-gata with rounded edge, maru-mimi. Height 7.2 cm; width 7.0 cm; depth 0.3 cm., A round metal object with a central elongated diamond-shaped opening and two rounded side openings, featuring a decorative radial pattern of textured, tapered bars around the center; the metal surface shows a mix of dark gray and brownish tones with areas of lighter metallic highlights and some subtle rust-colored spots, and the background is a pale gray.
