Crossguard tsuba, Tsunetada maker, Japanese, Edo period 19th century. Round tsuba maru-gata with a rounded edge maru-mimi. Decorated with an openwork positive design of thirty-two concentrically arranged arrow shafts and feathers with fine engraved details. Inscribed or associated with Bushu Musashi. Materials and function: sword crossguard for katana; melee weapon accessory. Origin: Kawagoe, Japan. Dimensions: height 7.2 cm; width 7.0 cm; depth 0.3 cm., A round metal object with a central elongated oval opening and two rounded side openings, featuring a raised rim and an intricate radial pattern of narrow, textured slats around the center; the surface shows areas of smooth and rough metal with subtle pitting and wear. The piece displays several shades of gray and brown with hints of muted bronze and darker metallic tones.
