Cup, Persian, Qajar dynasty 1785–1925, 19th century, Iran. Ceramic vessel, height 25.5 cm, diameter 18.4 cm. Decoration: cartouches with a bust of a man, animals lions, birds, figures, flowers, geometric and small plant ornament; figurative motifs., A decorative goblet-shaped object with a flared rim and a rounded bowl on a tapered stem and circular base, richly ornamented with raised metallic figures and painted backgrounds; the surface shows gilded relief animals including winged creatures and feline-like figures, floral and foliate motifs, and framed medallion shapes with human-like busts, all set against painted areas of blue, green, red, white, black, and touches of pink, with patterned bands and geometric borders encircling the form.
