Crossguard tsuba, Mino school, Japanese, Edo period 18th century. Iron round tsuba maru gata with rounded edge maru mimi; ryohitsu ana holes plugged with shakudô alloy and copper sekigane. Decorated on both sides with dense low-relief inlay of brass and silver depicting various flowers with praying mantises, butterflies, and dragonflies. Signed. Diameter 8.3 cm; thickness 0.3 cm., A round metal object with a central rectangular cutout, decorated with intricate floral and leaf patterns in gold and darker metallic tones, showing a few oval dark insets and small areas of reddish-brown on a small central bar; the overall colors visible are gold, dark brown, black, reddish-brown, and gray, set against a plain gray background.
