Tsuba in the shape of a rectangle with rounded sides nadegaku gata, katahitsu ana; copper sekigane fillings. Decorated on both sides with high-relief decoration inlaid with multicolored metals, depicting on the obverse a rooster by a fence overgrown with bindweed and a chicken in the grass among flowers; on the reverse a hen with two chicks. 1st half of the 19th century Edo period, Japan. Tsuba; height 6.6 cm, width 5.8 cm, depth 0.3 cm., A rounded square metal object with a dark gray surface shows a carved central opening and a smaller adjacent opening; a decorative scene along one edge features a large rooster rendered with gold and dark blue feathers standing beside gold-accented plants and vines, a small brown chick near the bottom, and a few grassy sprigs and flowers with gold highlights on a textured dark background.
