Jug, late 19th century, Northern India possibly / Iran possibly. Tall silver jug with a pear-shaped body and tall, conical neck tapering to a wide spout. Entire surface richly decorated with plant motifsāleaves, twigs, carnations and other flowers, and plant tendrils. On one side of the belly is a blank shield. Handle decorated with spotted animals with large ears and open mouths; hinge at upper edge of handle indicates the vessel originally had a lid. Height 43 cm; weight 1795 g. Styles/features: Islamic art; zoomorphism; coats of arms; floral ornament., A single ornate metal pitcher with an elongated spout and a curved handle sits against a plain light gray background; the pitcher is covered in dense raised floral and leaf patterns all over its bulbous body, neck, and flared base, and the handle features carved animal head motifs and repeating circular decorations. The surface appears metallic with tones of silver and muted gray, with subtle darker gray shadows in the recesses of the ornamentation.
