Vase., Chinese; Qing dynasty 1644–1911. Ceramic vessel, 19th century. With a low foot and a cup-shaped neck toward the rim. On the sides of the belly are two modeled plastic butterflies. Yellow glaze with engraved decoration, partly modeled, painted with green and brown enamel paints. Height 24.5 cm; diameter 17.5 cm; weight 1.35 kg. Subjects: butterflies and plant ornaments., A yellow ceramic vase with a rounded body, a narrow neck that flares at the rim, and a short foot, decorated with a repeating pattern of green scrolling vines and leaves and dark brown stylized floral or cloud shapes; there is a raised dark brown ornamental motif on the front, a green band of vertical elements above the foot, and a decorative border near the rim; the surface shows a glossy finish and subtle speckling, and the vase sits on a reflective pale surface against a light gray background.
