Crossguard tsuba, Raiyôken, Yoshimasa maker; sword crossguard in iron, Tsuba in the shape of an otafuku chubby woman's face. Oval seppa dai, edge thick, rounded hira dote mimi. Decorated in low relief with two dragons; surface carved on both sides in low relief with rough sea waves umiji. Outlines of the side hitsu holes visible, later plugged different engraving style. Edge decorated with two dragons. Inscription includes the phrase kitsu jitsu happy day. Date: 1852 Edo period, Kaei 5, Year of the Rat. Japan. Function: tsuba katana guard. Dimensions: height 8.7 cm, width 8.35 cm, depth 0.5 cm., A round, flat object with a raised rim and carved surface patterns sits against a light gray background; the object appears metallic with dark brown and rusty brown tones, and has a narrow slit near its center revealing a darker interior, while the carved surface shows swirling and wave-like textures and the rim has a slightly uneven, hammered appearance in shades of brown and dark gray.
