Crossguard tsuba, Raiyôken, Yoshimasa; sword crossguard in the shape of an otafuku chubby woman's face. Edo period, Kaei 5 1852, Year of the Rat, Japan. Iron tsuba, height 8.7 cm, width 8.35 cm, depth 0.5 cm. Oval seppa dai; edge thick, clearly defined and rounded hira dote mimi. Decorated in low relief with two dragons; both sides carved in low relief with rough sea waves umiji. The outlines of the side hitsu holes are visible, later plugged different engraving style. Inscription includes the phrase kitsu jitsu happy day. Maker: Raiyôken Yoshimasa. Function: katana tsuba; motifs: dragons, sea waves, Otafuku., An oval dark brown metal object with a central teardrop-shaped opening is shown against a light gray background; the object's surface features carved swirling wave patterns and spiral motifs, with textured raised borders and carved fish-like forms along the edges, and visible shades of dark brown and gray across the metal.
