Crossguard tsuba, Round tsuba maru-gata in the Chinese Cantonese style with a distinct, finely fluted gilded edge and a narrow border engraved with a stylized plant twig. Seppa-dai in silver, round, decorated with an engraved horizontal stripe motif of stylized groups of trees. Shield decoration is openwork, in the shape of a braid with four cross-shaped rectangles bearing ideograms in the style of seal script. Not signed. 18th century Edo period, 1603–1868, Japan. Tsuba; diameter 7.6 cm, thickness 0.5 cm., A round metal object with a textured lattice surface and a raised rim, shown against a plain light gray background. The object has a metallic color palette including gold on the rim and accents, dark brown and bronze tones on the lattice and inner areas, and some silvery gray on central raised elements. The rim is ridged and gold-toned, and the central area features a circular raised section with recessed shapes and layered details. The surface shows slight variations in sheen and patina, with darker shadows within the lattice and lighter metallic highlights on the raised parts.
