Crossguard tsuba, Higo school; maker Tokishige. Round tsuba maru-gata with rectangular edge kaku mimi, sekigane copper. Decorated with negative openwork composition showing birds sitting on a rock. Japanese, Edo period 1603–1868, 18th century, diameter 7.4 cm, thickness 0.38 cm., A round metal object with a dark brown and rust-colored patina sits against a light gray background, featuring an oval central cutout and decorative cutouts around its edge that form the silhouettes of several birds perched on branches and a jagged rocky shape; there are traces of a lighter coppery color near the central opening and along some edges, and the surface shows uneven texture and mottled areas of darker brown and rusty orange.
