Crossguard tsuba, Chôshû, school author; Japanese, Edo period 18th century, 1603–1868. Tsuba with a multi-petaled cut tachi mokkô gata and a rounded, profiled edge decorated with a gold ornament; seppa dai oval, ryôhitsu ana. Decorated in positive openwork with a rich ornament of chrysanthemum flowers and leaves, details highlighted by engraving and delicate gold accents. Not signed. Materials: metal; function: sword crossguard katana. Dimensions: height 8.0 cm, width 7.7 cm, thickness 0.4 cm., A round, scalloped metal object with a dark brown patina featuring a floral relief pattern and open central cutouts, showing a few areas of lighter brown and goldish highlights, set against a plain light gray background.
