Vase with two taotie masks. Chinese, Qing dynasty 1644–1911, 18th–19th century. Porcelain vessel with full sculpture and bas-relief decoration depicting taotie masks and dragons. Height 15.2 cm; width 8.8 cm; depth 3.3 cm., A pale, smooth carved object with a glossy, translucent surface stands upright against a gradient background. The object has an elongated base that flares slightly and tapers into a wider midsection decorated with subtle carved patterns, then narrows and rises into a curved, spouted top with a rounded lip. Small protruding tabs and pierced sections appear on the sides of the midsection, and faint incised lines and motifs decorate various surfaces. The predominant color of the object is a milky off-white, and the background shows gradations of dark gray at the top blending into lighter gray toward the bottom.
