Palden Lhamo, Tibetan Buddhist figural sculpture dharmapala, 19th century, possibly China or Mongolia; materials not specified; depicts Palden Lhamo with mules and skulls; height 14.8 cm, width 13.0 cm., A small gilded metal figure of a fierce deity with a red mane of hair sits astride a horse, the deity holding a curved sword aloft in one hand and a shallow bowl in the other; the figure wears ornate armor and jewelry with traces of green and red paint, and the horse has painted green and red details on its bridle and mouth and a black tail and hooves. The sculpture stands on an oval decorative base with a repeating geometric pattern in gold and red, and the whole object is set against a plain light gray background with a faint reflection visible below.
