Head of a polychrome figurine, which originally probably depicted a woman lying on a bed with her head propped up on a pillow . The woman's head is shown wearing a short, striped wig. Behind the head, a woman's hand is visible, which, like the head, rests on an object that may represent a pillow or bolts of cloth. Fragment of a figurine. 332 BC–395 AD; Ptolemaic Period–Roman Period. Egypt. Figurine. Height 2.8 cm, width 5.6 cm, depth 2.5 cm., A weathered, pale stone fragment shaped like a small carved figure is centered against a plain light gray background, showing a rounded head with carved hair and a draped section flowing down the side; the stone surface displays a range of off-white, beige, tan, and light brown tones with darker brown weathering and small rough cracks and pits, and a few traces of darker markings on the stone's face and body.
