The narrow, low neck is as high as the rim; the rim is cup-shaped. The handle is ribbon-shaped, vertical. The front is decorated with a bar ornament at the base of the neck. The belly and arms depict a seated woman facing left: legs shown in profile left extended, right withdrawn, hips three-quarters en face, arms frontally; head in left profile. The left arm is wrapped around a himation, hand resting on the hip; the right hand is outstretched, above which lies a tossed circular object composed of two light-colored parts a ball or skein of wool?, each with a single black dot, separated by a dark stripe. Hair combed back and tied in a bun; necklace and spherical-bead earrings shown with dots. Sides bear a motif of vertically unwinding plant tendrils with spirally coiled ends. Reddish clay with visible turning lines. Neck diagonally cracked and glued; rim chipped. 2nd half of the 4th century BC, Campania. Vessel aryballos lekythos, height 10.8 cm, diameter 8.1 cm., A dark rounded vessel with a narrow neck and flared rim sits against a plain gray background; the surface shows worn patches and irregular discoloration in black, dark brown, muted orange, and areas of lighter beige, with a short handle-like neck connecting the bulbous body to the rim and a slightly raised circular base that shows chipped and rough texture.
