Lamp, Egyptian Coptic art, antiquity; oval oil lamp made of yellow-gray clay with a high container and two handles threaded with a bronze chain for hanging. The high, sloping arms are decorated with a plastic ornament of rectangular mesh. A channel running perpendicularly through the arms from the handle reaches the wick hole and surrounds it, creating a high rim. 5th–6th century, Egypt; oil lamp; height 10 cm, width 7.1 cm., A hanging object composed of a metal chain and a clay lamp; the chain is a group of linked oval rings and a curved hook at the top showing greenish and dark brown tones, while the lamp below is an off-white to beige clay with areas of light brown discoloration and a textured diamond pattern on its top surface, plus a rounded spout-like opening and a loop where the chain attaches.
