Oil lamp, unknown Palestinian workshop. Islamic art, Arabic culture; oil lamp used in everyday life in the Middle East. Oval lamp with conical handle. Large olive opening occupying virtually the entire surface of the disc. Arms decorated with palm branches. Burner channel and wick opening bounded by a convex shaft; the channel is decorated with a six-leafed palm branch, interpreted in the context of Byzantine Jerusalem workshops as a schematic representation of a menorah. Oval, ring-shaped base decorated in the center with a six-pointed star Magen David / Seal of Solomon. On the outside of the ring-shaped base are three symmetrically spread palm branches—menorahs. The entire lamp is impressed into the mold. 7th–8th century, Syro-Palestine. Oil lamp; height 3.4 cm, length 10.8 cm, width 6.9 cm., A worn, oval clay object with a central round opening and a smaller recess at one end, showing carved leaf-like patterns and raised ridges across its surface; the material appears rough and pitted with a textured finish, and the colors visible include shades of beige, tan, light brown, dark brown, and hints of black, all set against a pale gray background.
