Small hand-formed unglazed clay vessel decorated on the outer surface with an inscription in kanji characters engraved before firing. 19th century, Japan. Height 3.2 cm, width 4.8 cm., A small rounded brown clay pot with an uneven rim sits centered against a smooth gray background, showing a weathered surface with lighter beige patches and subtle darker brown variations; the pot's interior appears darker brown, and a faint reflection of the pot is visible on the glossy surface beneath it.
