Terracotta gladiator figurine, unknown Southern Italian workshop, terracotta, male figurines. Figure of a gladiator ready for battle on a high base. Legs wide apart, left leg bent, right leg straight. Greaves reaching above the knees. In his right, bent hand he holds a dagger, and in the other a four-sided shield. Dressed in a short draped tunic and wearing a helmet. The Latin inscription PACILI is visible on the reverse of the base. Preservation: part of the base filled with plaster, partial shield and back of the head broken off, reflections, cracks. Date: 2nd–1st century BC. Place of origin: Southern Italy. Figurine, height 13 cm, width 7 cm., A small weathered sculpture of a standing figure carved from a pale beige material, showing a rough, uneven surface with worn details; the figure appears to wear a hood or hat and has indistinct facial features, with one arm bent and the other resting along the body; the lower portion broadens into a solid base with textured marks and chips; the overall color palette includes beige, off-white, light gray, and subtle darker grayish spots, set against a smooth medium-gray background.
