Terracotta gladiator figurine, unknown Southern Italian workshop, terracotta, male figurines. Figure of a gladiator ready for battle on a high base. Legs wide apart, left leg bent, right leg straight. On the calves are greaves reaching above the knees. In his right, bent hand he holds a dagger, and in the other a four-sided shield. He is dressed in a short draped tunic and wears a helmet. The Latin inscription PACILI is visible on the reverse of the base. Preservation condition: part of the base filled with plaster, partial shield and back of the head broken off, reflections, cracks. Date: 2nd–1st century BC, Southern Italy. Figurine. Height 13 cm, width 7 cm., A light-colored sculptural figure shown in profile against a neutral gray background, with an elongated vertical form and a defined head wearing a hood-like shape, a rounded back element projecting behind the upper torso, visible arm contours and rough textured surface with subtle variations in beige, cream, pale gray, and muted brown tones, all resting on a block-like base of similar light tan color.
