Red-figure bowl with Eros and a young woman; red-figure pottery, bowl kylix; 3rd quarter of the 4th century BC; Apulia. Yellow clay tending to red; glossy black engobe; some elements painted white. Bowl with a ring-shaped base with two vices attached to the rim horizontally; palmettes beneath the vices. Belly decorated with two scenes: Scene A — young woman semi-reclining on the ground, facing left, holding a wreath in her left hand and a woven basket on her outstretched right hand; dressed in a long, smooth chiton; neck adorned with a pearl necklace; wrists with double bracelets; hair tied in a bun with a kekryphalos. Scene B — Eros flying, facing left; in the right hand a musical instrument and in the left hand a wreath with a ribbon; hairstyle and jewelry like Scene A bun with kekryphalos, double bracelets, pearl necklace; ankles with bracelets and head with a diadem; entire figure has hermaphrodite features. Condition: numerous chips; engobe dull in places. Dimensions: height 5.1 cm, width 17.5 cm, depth 10 cm., An earthenware bowl with two horizontal handles, predominantly black with areas of terracotta and pale orange, shows painted decorative motifs including swirling foliate patterns in terracotta and pale orange against the black background; a reclining human figure rendered in pale orange and terracotta with signs of paint loss sits at the center, flanked by stylized leaf or vine elements and framed by a narrow border near the rim; the bowl rests on a foot ring that is terracotta with a black band, and the handles extend in black with some chipped pale areas.
