Black-finished askos, unknown Campanian workshop, repossession Silesia, black-finished pottery, askos, Campania Italy, Askos with a profiled foot and a semicircular body closed at the top with a slightly recessed surface. Narrow neck ending in a wide rim. Ribbon-shaped handle, attached to the neck and to the upper surface of the vessel. Appliqué with a female head glued to the upper surface of the vessel. The head depicted is probably Medusa, surrounded by a wreath of intertwined snakes. The finish is black, shiny, worn in places, particularly on the handle and the edge of the rim. Light orange clay. Handle and neck cracked and glued. Mid. III wa C., Campania, vessel, A black rounded ceramic vessel with a short flared spout and an arched handle, showing worn and chipped areas that reveal lighter tan and off-white underlying material, resting against a uniform gray background; the vessel's surface has subtle circular ridges and scuffs with a few small lighter flecks.
