Black-finned aryballois lekythos. Large, ring-shaped foot. Body squat, barrel-shaped with rounded shoulders. Neck quite narrow, clearly separated from body with flaring rim. Upper part of body has a slightly irregular, clay-colored orange band not covered with finnis; on its front a rather carelessly executed meander interrupted with black paint. Upper part of the vice is tilted to the left. Condition: minor chips, rim edge worn. 1st half of the 19th century; 4th century BC., and place of origin. Vessel lekythos. Height 10.9 cm; diameter 5.4 cm., A small bottle-shaped ceramic vessel with a narrow neck flaring into a wide, shallow rim, showing a worn black surface with scattered lighter chips and speckles; the body has a horizontal band in a tan color around its upper portion decorated with a repeating wavy motif in black; the base is slightly raised and shows exposed areas where the black finish is worn to a lighter color; overall colors visible are black, tan, and small areas of lighter beige from wear.
