Female terracotta figurine of a standing woman, depicted frontally. Set on a small hollow, bottomless base rectangular at the front and oval at the back; a large rectangular opening at the back shows clear traces of carving in the unfired clay. The woman stands with legs slightly apart, weight on the straight right leg, left leg bent and slightly forward. Arms lowered, slightly bent at the elbows, hands holding a cloak at hip level. Head turned slightly to the left on a long neck; elongated face with very faint features; long combed-back hair over the shoulders. Polos on her head decorated with a horizontal red line. Garments fit snugly with plastically defined folds. Traces of red polychrome on a white ground cover the entire surface; lines highlight garment folds and mark a necklace and the belt tying the peplos. Damaged polychrome. 5th century BC, Greece. Height 19.6 cm., A weathered standing figure sculpture made of a light-colored stone with areas of brown and reddish discoloration, wearing a tall headpiece and a long draped garment that falls to a rectangular base; the surface shows rough, pitted texture with traces of red and brown pigment and patches of white and gray, and the background is a uniform medium gray.
