The obverse presents iconography typical of Old Believers/Pop-Rites objects: the crucified Christ, above him the Lord of Hosts blessing from the clouds, below him the dove of the Holy Spirit with angels descending toward the Savior. The cross stands on symbolic Golgotha with a cave containing Adam's skull and is set against a symbolic representation of Jerusalem. On the reverse is an apotropaic prayer to the Holy Cross. 19th century, Russia. Cross; height 36.5 cm, width 18.5 cm., A metal cross-shaped object with a stepped design and beveled edges, shown against a plain light gray background; the surface of the cross has incised decorative patterns and shallow carved panels, with worn texture and a patina giving it overall golden and brass tones along with areas of darker brown. The form includes a central vertical shaft with two horizontal arms and an angled lower arm, and the interior panels display repeated geometric motifs and linear borders. There are shallow relief decorations suggesting small carved shapes within the panels, and the edges show a slightly darker rim contrasting with the lighter central fields. The image shows a single object centered in the frame with neutral lighting that emphasizes the metallic sheen and surface details.
