Behind the figure is a large circular halo rendered in gold with a textured, aged surface, set against a mostly gold background with areas of wear and darker mottling. Narrow vertical bands along the left and right edges contain small standing figures in darker colors including black, dark brown, and muted green, and there are dark circular medallions near the top corners. The outer border of the panel is dark, showing black and deep red tones, and the overall surface displays visible craquelure and signs of age.
