Bottle, unknown Egyptian workshop; painted Coptic pottery, marl clay with limestone inclusions, with bitumen residue. Bottle with a rounded, falling rim, concavely profiled. Almost cylindrical neck flows into rounded shoulders covered with fine ribs. Two handles one fragmentary are attached to the lower neck and upper shoulders. Ovoid body with lowest part grooved turning traces; ring-shaped foot. Outer surface brown and smoothed. Faint black-painted decoration on the shoulders: two arcades of parallel arches separated by a row of dots, arranged symmetrically one between the handles. Irregular concentration of black substance at the highest bulge of the body below a damaged handle likely bitumen used to seal or repair. 6th century, Edfu. Vessel bottle.
