Bottle, unknown Egyptian workshop; painted Coptic pottery vessel bottle, marl clay with limestone inclusions, possibly sealed/repaired with bitumen. Rounded, falling rim; concavely profiled, almost cylindrical neck flowing into rounded shoulders decorated with fine ribs. Two handles one fragmentary attached at lower neck and upper shoulders. Ovoid body with grooved lower body turning traces and ring-shaped foot. Outer surface brown and smoothed. Faint black-painted decoration on shoulders: two arcades of parallel arches separated by a row of dots, arranged symmetrically one arcade between the handles. Irregular concentration of black substance at the highest bulge of the body below the damaged handle, likely bitumen. 6th century; from Edfu.
