The obverse shows Christ crucified on Golgotha. Below the cross in the grotto are shown Adam's skull and the tree of Seth; at the level of the footstool is a view of Jerusalem; on the crossbar are symbols of the sun and moon, and in the upper part above the cross the Mandylion and two angels descending towards Christ. The relief is decorative, very carefully crafted. The set of inscriptions and the font are typical of Bezpopovtsy Old Believer crosses. On the reverse there is an engraved plant ornament typical of the Pomeranian environment. 19th century, Northern Russia. Cross, height 38.5 cm, width 20.2 cm., A metallic cross-shaped plaque with a raised central figure of a crucified man wearing a loincloth, shown head slightly tilted and arms outstretched, surrounded by ornate decorative frames and relief scenes; above the central figure is a smaller raised image of a bearded face within a rectangular panel flanked by winged figures, and along the horizontal arms are small round faces and additional carved motifs; below the feet of the central figure the vertical shaft contains relief scenes of buildings, a winding landscape, and a carved face set among textured forms; the object is uniformly metallic gold in color against a plain light gray background.
