Icon: St. Nicholas Mozajski, Orthodox workshop; Nicholas of Myra ca. 270–345/352; icons; swords; cities; bishops; ornaments; saints; inscriptions. The icon shows St. Nicholas holding a model of a city in his left hand and raising a sword in his right. The background is cut out, and there is an identifying inscription on the upper frame. The relief of the cast is quite schematic but has extensive ornamentation. The figure’s proportions are elongated, with the head and hands clearly enlarged relative to the body. 1st half of the 18th century; Russia; icon; height 6.4 cm, width 5.9 cm., A square metal plaque with a cutout silhouette of a person holding objects in each hand, shown against a light gray background; the plaque is dark gray with a slightly worn, textured surface and a small rectangular lighter-gray patch near its lower edge.
