Head of a woman. Female head, fragment of a larger figurine. The head is tilted slightly to the right. The face is narrow, long. The straight nose forms a single plane with the forehead. The large, almond-shaped eyes are deeply set; near the nose they have modeled both eyelids. The arches of the eyebrows slope downward on the outside. The forehead is triangular. The hair completely covers the ears, revealing only the earrings. The hair, parted in the middle, forms waves at the back and is combed upwards, creating curls on the crown. The hair is held in a wide ribbon, which, when worn from the back, runs to the front, where it crosses back and is tied. The polychrome is perfectly preserved: the face is white, very pink, with traces of red on the lips; the hair is brown; the scarf is white and blue. 4th century BC, Tanagra Greece. Terracotta figurine; height 13 cm, width 7 cm, depth 9.5 cm, weight 0.31 kg., A sculpted head of a person rendered in weathered stone tones and reddish-brown material, shown against a plain light gray background, featuring wavy hair gathered under a wrapped head covering with a textured decorative element at the top, a face with softened features and surface discoloration, a small earring with a hint of yellow, and subtle traces of pale green and white on parts of the head covering.
