Figurine of Leda with a Swan, A woman sits on a rock and feeds a swan standing next to her. She is dressed in a cloak thrown over her head and back that falls along her body, completely enveloping her legs while leaving the rest of her body exposed. In her right hand, resting on her knees, she holds a platter; with her left arm bent and extended she holds it above the swan, which rests on her exposed hip with its head extended toward her. The woman bows her head and looks at the swan. The swan has outstretched wings. The woman's sandaled feet do not rest on the rock but dangle. The square base forms one with the rock. Cloak painted pink. Mid-3rd century BC, Myrina; terracotta figurine; height 24 cm, width 15 cm, depth 12 cm, weight 0.56 kg., A weathered sculptural figure of a seated person draped in a hooded cloak and flowing garments, rendered in muted tones of beige, tan, brown, and off-white with areas of pale pinkish and grayish patina; the figure's exposed torso and arm show subtle surface erosion and mottled discoloration, and the hood casts a shadow over a downturned face; the drapery cascades in textured folds over the legs and base, showing streaks of lighter and darker browns and worn white highlights; beside and in front of the figure is a bird with spread wings and a raised neck, sharing the same aged beige and brown coloring with flaked pale residues; the sculpture rests on an irregular rocky base on a flat square plinth, all set against a uniform gray background.
