Modiolus – drinking vessel, 1st century, Roman Empire 27 BC–476, from Goluchów Greater Poland Voivodeship; vessel, height 14.4 cm, width 15.4 cm, A large, flared vessel with a single loop handle on one side, showing a worn, mottled surface in shades of green, teal, pale blue, and brown with areas of lighter and darker patina; the rim is broad and slightly turned outward, the body tapers inward toward a rounded foot, and the handle attaches near the upper side; the surface displays irregular patches and streaks of discoloration and a slightly reflective, aged texture.
