Black-finned skyphos, early 4th century BC, Attica. Thick-walled skyphos with two handles, deep bowl on a low profiled foot. Interior decorated with a stamped ornament of six palmettes; inside the circle are two concentric circles with ovules between them, surrounded by a band of ovules between two engraved lines. Outer part of the foot decorated with concentric circular elements. Technology: evenly distributed matte varnish, visible turning marks; admixtures: mica, pyroxene. Clay color 2.5 YR 6/6 light red. Varnish color 10 YR 2/1 black. Vessel skyphos, height 10.4 cm, width 23.5 cm, depth 16.6 cm, weight 0.456 kg, foot diameter 8.2 cm., A black bowl-like vessel with a rounded body and a flared rim, shown from the front and centered against a smooth gray background; the vessel rests on a short circular foot and has a pair of stout looped handles attached near the rim, with visible wear and small lighter-colored specks on the black surface.
