Canopic box, Sons of Horus, falcons, jackals, Isis, Nephthys; grave goods, Egyptian deities; ca. 747–656 BC, Third Intermediate Period, 25th Dynasty, Egypt; canopic box, height 28.5 cm, width 22 cm, depth 29 cm, A rectangular wooden box with a hinged lid sits against a gray background, its painted surface showing a pale off-white ground with a horizontal decorative band near the top in muted blue and yellow tones and a thin darker line near the base; on the front panel are a pair of standing figures facing right, each rendered with red lower garments, yellow upper torsos and arms, blue headdresses and vertical blue-and-yellow draped elements, and red animal-like heads with elongated snouts; the wood grain and aged paint show areas of wear, flaking, and small chips revealing natural wood and darker underlayers, and the box rests on short rectangular feet that show scuffs and discoloration in brown and white.
