Amulet — god Thoth; maker, Thoth myth., Egyptian deities, Egyptian religion; Egypt, 664–525 BC Late Period, 26th Dynasty; amulet; height 5.2 cm, width 2.1 cm, A small carved figure viewed from the back, rendered in a pale green glazed material with a slightly mottled surface and areas of darker green and brown discoloration; the figure has long vertical hair or a headdress that falls along the back and sides, with carved ridges and gentle rounded contours; the shoulders are broad and the arms are close to the body, creating narrow open spaces at the sides; there are traces of reddish pigment on the central vertical back strip and a small patch of brown material adhered near the upper back; the lower edge shows a rougher, unglazed brown area and the overall surface has small pitted marks and worn spots.
