Amulet - goddess Toeris, Toeris myth., Egyptian deities, crocodiles, hippopotamuses. Figurine of the goddess Toeris in the form of a pregnant hippopotamus standing on lion legs and equipped with a crocodile tail. A stand under the legs, a pendant on the back. 664–332 BC; Late Period, Egypt. Amulet; height 5 cm, width 1.5 cm., A small sculpted figure of a standing lion-headed humanoid rendered in a green-blue glazed material with speckled darker spots, shown in profile facing right; the figure has a mane of vertical ridges, an open mouth with visible carved teeth, a rounded torso and arms held close to the body, and a short tail curving down the back. The surface shows areas of wear and exposed brownish material beneath the glaze. The figure stands on a rectangular base of the same green-blue color, and the background is a uniform medium gray.
