Amulet — stele with lion-headed goddesses Bastet and Sekhmet?, lionesses, Egyptian deities; possibly Sekhmet, Bastet, Bes; thrones; ca. 747–525 BC 25th–26th Dynasty, Egypt; amulet; height 7.1 cm, width 4.6 cm., A carved rectangular amulet with rounded top showing a raised relief of a seated human figure facing a standing smaller figure, both rendered in shallow relief; the seated figure sits on a blocky, stepped seat while the standing figure reaches toward the seated figure; above them a larger head or mask-like form overlooks the scene; the surface shows a weathered, speckled patina in shades of turquoise and green with areas of darker brown and black spotting and some lighter worn patches; the background around the figures is slightly recessed and the edges of the object are smoothed and irregular.
