New Year's canteen, Flat round faience canteen with a narrow short neck ending in a chipped spout shaped like a papyrus capital, decorated on both sides with plastic figurines of crouching baboons with elbows on knees and paws supporting the muzzle. A floral necklace is depicted in relief on both sides of the neck, and a hieroglyphic text runs along the narrow sides. Material: faience. Function: vessel. Date: 664–525 BC; Late Period, 26th Dynasty, Egypt. Height 17.5 cm + 1.5 cm base, width 13.7 cm, weight 0.37 kg., A single elongated oval vessel with a narrow neck and flared rim, rendered in a greenish-blue patina with areas of lighter green and pale turquoise, sits against a neutral gray background; the surface shows a few scattered brownish spots and subtle weathering. The neck has a small applied loop handle and a raised decorative band near its base, and a vertical raised strip runs down the front of the body, bordered by several fine incised parallel lines and bearing a series of shallow carved motifs. Around the shoulder there is a band of concentric incised patterns forming a repeated stepped and linear design in the same greenish-blue tones, and the vessel casts a soft shadow to one side.
