Flat round faience canteen with a narrow short neck ending in a chipped spout shaped like a papyrus capital, decorated on both sides with plastic figurines of crouching baboons with elbows on knees and paws supporting the muzzle. A floral necklace is depicted in relief on both sides of the neck, and a hieroglyphic text runs along the narrow sides. Height 17.5 cm plus 1.5 cm base; width 13.7 cm; weight 0.37 kg. Dated 664–525 BC, Late Period, 26th Dynasty, Egypt., A turquoise-green rounded vessel with a narrow neck and flared rim is shown against a dark gray background; the vessel surface has a patinated, slightly mottled texture with areas of lighter and darker green and small brownish spots, and a band of incised decorative geometric patterns encircles the upper shoulder; a pair of small sculpted human figures in the same green material are attached on opposite sides of the neck, each seated and holding their knees.
