Black high-brimmed hat with a red cockade and a white ostrich feather. A white cravat tied with a bow, a red double-breasted tailcoat with lapels, and a wide white belt at the waist. Background: dark clouds at the bottom, light pearl clouds at the top, all in shades of black, white, and red vermilion. Miniature, c. 1800; height 6.1 cm, width 5.1 cm. Józef Choynowski 1833–ca.1915 attributed. Binding: a narrow, profiled rim of gilded bronze set in a rectangular slat covered with cherry plush. Subjects: men, hats, hunters, feathers, headgear, costumes; portrait en three-quarters, male portrait., An oval framed portrait set against a deep burgundy textured background shows a young person with pale skin and dark curly hair wearing a tall black hat adorned with a small red ornament and a white plume; they wear a high white cravat and a red coat with a darker red collar and visible round buttons, and the portrait is enclosed in a thin gold frame.
