Stanislaw August Poniatowski, King of Poland in the years 1764–1796. Attributed to Bacciarelli; possibly by Johanna Juliana Friederike Bacciarelli 1733–1809/1812 or studio; painted at the Malarnia Królewska Warsaw, art school, 1766–1818. Portrait miniature, bust left, three-quarter male portrait in coronation robes. Gray powdered wig with a katogan. Crimson cloak thrown over armor, embroidered with golden eagles, trimmed with ermine and fastened at the shoulder with a diamond brooch. Background dark, slightly lighter on the right. Binding: light brown leather embossed with darker ornaments; around the oval an embossed pearl ornament made of gilded paper approximately one-third of the pearls missing. Miniature, Poland; height 4.3 cm, width 3.6 cm; dated circa 1800., A small rectangular leather case in shades of brown with darker brown ornamental scrollwork embossed across its surface, featuring an oval painted portrait set into the center surrounded by a decorative ring of small gold-colored round elements; the portrait shows a person with pale skin and powdered gray-white hair wearing a dark garment with a light-colored scarf that has red and gold accents, set against a muted gray background; a pale fabric loop and a worn brass ring are attached at the top, and the leather shows areas of wear and slight scuffing.
